Flaming Gorge

A couple of weeks ago my family went to Flaming Gorge! It was great, and quite an adventure! Sadly, I took ZERO pictures. So, thanks to Andrea Dustin, my sister-in-law, I just stole this off her blog. I just loved it and I wanted it to be part of our blog as well. Thanks Andrea! But the trip was great. We stayed at an interesting little cabin area right outside Flaming Gorge. It had great "home cookin'", and our rental boat was a little more interesting than that...yeah, you know what I mean. But hey it was a boat and got us around the lake and even had enough power to get us out of the water, so yea!! It was a fun get-away and fun Brett loved that he got to wakeboard at least once this summer.

Espana!

Well, I am finally posting!! I am sorry it has taken so long it's been really busy! But I'm excited to post about our fantastic trip! We went to Spain from August 5th to the 19th to visit Brett's parents who are serving as Mission Presidents there. It was truly wonderful and I got to meet my father-in-law Bob which was great. Katie, Brett's sister, was also there with us which made the trip even better! We landed in Malaga, Spain which is the southern most mission of Spain. It is on the Mediterranean and on a clear day you can see the hills of Africa on the other side of the sea. Claire arranged an amazing trip where we got to visit the cities of the mission. We went to Cadiz, Sevilla, Granada, and Cordoba. They are all big cities of the mission besides Malaga. It was fun to see how different all the cities are. The weather there is usually extremely hot but we were blessed to visit the cities on days where the weather had actually "cooled down" to 100. We visited places that I used to read about in my Art History class. Back at the mission home we swam in the pool at least once a day, put together puzzles, ate, ate and ate, and were able to be with the Mellor's which was the best part. It was so great cause we just don't get to see them enough. It was truly the trip of a lifetime and so fun to go with such amazing people!! We miss them so much and miss all the amazing places we visited. Enjoy the pics!

What Happens in Provo...

First off, happy birthday again mom! We loved seeing you on your birthday and having a great dinner with you! We love you :)

We have officially been married for almost 7 months now which is so crazy!! Since this is our scrapbook I thought I would write some of our favorite things to do in Provo...the land of the cougars and home of the Mellors.
While on our honeymoon, Brett brought the first season of Lost. It has been one of our personal favorites and we recommend it highly...although the last season looked a lil weird...but the first 5 seasons are excellent. We also love to watch Seinfeld, Friends, the Office, a random chick flick (thankfully I married a man that will sit through those with me :)), Batman, Fletch, or an Indiana Jones hit here and there.
We try and make our weekends as fun as possible cause the week isn't too exciting. Brett works full time for a professor doing research and he starts his Masters program in August. He is so smart and he's working so hard. I'm so proud of him.
I have random work all over the place. I clean windows, wax peoples faces, do chemical peels on lots of different clients, make wall art, and lots of other random things. It has been crazy, but good. I wish the economy was better but we're making it work!
We are members of the BYU 44th ward which is a fun, funny, interesting place to live. The wards are set up by quads. Our building is building 5C of the 5A-5D set at Wymount Terrace. All of 5 is our ward. I'm the primary 2nd counselor and we have 2 primary children...Joy and Grace. Joy is a Joy! And Grace...is not so full of grace. They are both very fun though. Our nursery is alot larger, I would guess about 10-15 depending on the week. Every semester is a new adventure. People move in and out so much that there is a new member meeting every sunday in the bishops office after sacrament meeting. "Good News Minute" always gives me a little bit of laugh under my breathe with so many girls announcing their pregnancies or what sex their baby is going to be. I won't be at that point for a long time! You know you're in a young, married, BYU ward when "Good News Minute" is full of those. ;) Brett is in charge of the temple outtings. He sets up the temple visits for the ward each month and sometimes comes in primary and helps with the piano playing. I love that he can play the piano :).
As far as food goes, I am an okay cook. I can follow a recipe but I can never seem to want to eat it when it is done. It is so weird!! Does anyone else have this disease?!? I wish I wanted to eat it but I usually result in getting a bowl and a bag of Cheerios for dinner. Hopefully I'll get better and someday cook like my mom and Claire!
At night we go for walks alot around Wymount, up to the temple, or ride our bikes to the park. We love to get out of the apartment. We also love to play Scrabble, tetris, bomberman and love to play Rook with my family. Settlers of Catan comes out sometimes...but only when we're with family or guests and Brett always wins!
We're so excited to go to Spain next week! We're going to visit Bob, Claire, and Katie out in Spain next week on the 5th of August. We're so excited to come!!
Well...maybe we're boring but I can't think of much else to say. Thanks for readin!

Seven Peaks

And after Free Fall...

Today Josh, Trevor, Brett, and I went to Seven Peaks and it was a blast!! Josh and Trev came down last night and slept over and today we went to the park. We went on about every ride there and some were pretty intense! For those that have been they know how scary some of them are and Trevor did all the ones we did. He's so tough! We just played around and had a great day. Thanks for coming guys!

Friday Night Camping

Gorgeous Provo Canyon!

A candid camping photo...

The beautiful Krista and her husband the BYU football player Nick!

Us! Yes...us in camping chairs...

Last Friday we were invited by our friends Nick and Krista Alletto to go camping and we were so excited! We went up Provo Canyon and it was so gorgeous! The weather was quite a bit cooler up there which was very nice. We got up there around eight after having a little bit of trouble finding where they had staked out. It was fun to just eat dinner, talk, tell stories around the campfire, and ,of course, make S'mores. It was great to get to know them better and have a great time with our friends!

New Carpet Too!

Getting new carpet required almost all we owned to be put in
the kitchen and Brett's closet. It was intense!!

In the end it was worth it to have our apartment totally torn apart
because we now have new carpet without any stains!!
Plus it smells better too! Ha ha... :) yea!!

FHE July 6

For family night this week we went up Provo Canyon and had fun at the river. It was a blast! Cold, cold water but fun!

Happy Birthday America!

The Fireworks Crew....Josh, Trev, and Brett

My hot husband... :)

This year's fourth of July was so fantastic!! On Friday Brett and I drove up to Brett's home and hung out with Matt and Laura. We had dinner, played some games that didn't quite make sense, and watched some Brittish Office episodes. It was so fun to be with them! We slept there Friday night and on Saturday we went to the Layton parade. Brett played in the parade as part of the Layton Performance Ensemble with some friends from Drumline in High School. My family, which included my mom, dad, Josh, Trevor, Deven and Andrea, went to watch him. Layton sure is an interesting town. There were things there that you would never see at a Kaysville parade ha ha. Brett came past near the end of the parade and they were so awesome!! Brett was the main leader and so he had them play a song where they all run into the crowd. Brett ran up to me and tapped his lips with his stick and I kissed him. It was so cute!!! :) Oh, I love him so much. My family was shocked that he did that as was I but I loved it. We watched them march off and left a little after.

Later that afternoon we all went to see the new Disney Pixar movie UP. Best...movie...ever!! It is one of my new absolute favorite movies. Within the first five minutes I cried. It was one of the most touching, moving, inspiring, uplifting movies I have seen in a long time. I recommend it!!! After the wonderful movie we grabbed some dinner at one of my families favorite places Corbins. Brett and I hadn't been there since our wedding dinner and it was a great memory to go back.

That night for the 4th party it was sad to hear that Lagoon wasn't going to set off any fireworks. Sad. I have watched them almost every 4th of July my WHOLE life. We watched the Oakridge ones but it just wasn't the same nor as good. Josh, Trevor and Brett were our firework Piros and put on a good show for us in our backyard too. Overall though it was a fantastic fourth of July!! Hope everyone else had a great time as well :).
