The 4th of July

This year the 4th of July was quite the party. Brett's parents returned home from their mission presidency in Malaga, Spain. We went up to Layton on the Saturday after they got home and got to spend some time with them. It was a blast! We helped them unpack part of their storage room and it was really fun, consisting of races to see who would find the kitchen pans first. Later that night we had a wonderful family dinner with everyone. After dinner we watched fireworks from Farmington to Syracuse from their back porch. It was a great way to spend the 4th!!

1. Heard the baby's heart beat again this week :) so cute!
2. Air Conditioning.
3. Great Harvest Bread :)

Trimester Two

(No pressure to read this, it's mostly for my journal experience to remember :))
Hooray!! I feel like I have finally arrived, I made it to Trimester Two.
I finally don't feel sick anymore and I'm so glad! The first trimester I was really sick and could barely eat anything that didn't make me nauseous, other than toast, ginger ale, egg in a bread (favorite classic from dad), and anything from Jamba Juice. I feel so much better! I am still really tired and fall asleep pretty much everywhere but it's alright. I am cooking again and Brett is definitely glad of that! (I guess that depends on what I cook though ;)) We're so excited! A lot of people have asked whether we want a boy or a girl but we have no preference. I obviously love girls but I would be absolutely thrilled with a boy as well. This last week my stomach has gotten tighter and pushing out a little, it's completely freaking me out. Brett can't tell at all and he just laughs at me. I got home from school the other day and I was on the phone with my sister when I finally, or rather again, realized that I'm really pregnant. I cut Holly off mid sentence and totally off topic telling her "Holly, I'm pregnant!" Sometimes I forget. It's such a weird feeling. Sometimes I don't feel old enough to be doing this but I'm so excited that I don't care. It's a huge blessing in our lives and seeing Brett excited about it makes me ever happier. I just read online with this week by week pregnancy site that our baby is almost 4 inches long. So weird! But so, so cool. The more I learn about the human body the more I know that there is a God and I'm so grateful for that. I'm grateful for this new little life inside me and the blessings that it has already brought us in our life.

1. Being the music leader, sometimes it's tough but sometimes it's just awesome.
2. Lazy sunday afternoons with Brett.
3. Friends.

Happenings

Yes, we are boring and no, we really haven't done much of anything lately. This summer has been full, so far, of cold rainy days, work, and school. Brett is busy as a bee working on his dissertation and doing experiments for his research. He is so adorable. He has been learning to fend for himself for dinner since I never seem to get home until about 10pm. I am going to school, trying to please my ridiculous teachers and working a lot at Solase. So, yeah we are kind of boring busy bees, but we have lots to look forward to, such as:

-Claire and Bob get home in 2 weeks!
-Lake Powell in August!
-The Finals game tonight! (Yes, we are both way into it!)
-Father's day on sunday!
-I get to eat dinner tonight with Brett! :)

In case you can't tell I am pretty excited for all of them. Life is wonderful and so full of surprises. Have a wonderful Father's Day weekend :)

Close Call

Last Sunday a freak rain/snow storm hit the Wasatch Front. Sadly, it coincided exactly with the same night we picked up Brett's moms Lexus from his home in Kaysville. After a long, rainy drive home, we made it to Provo and parked for the night.

In the morning, this is what was found.
When Brett walked out to drive to school, our neighbor said to him, "Dude, did you see the tree that fell? Your car is alright, but someones Lexus got hammered." The Lexus he was talking about was unfortunately Claire's Lexus.
Upon inspection of the crime scene the large branch had fallen from about 30 feet up and missed the car by about 6 inches, although several smaller branches hit the windshield. Luckily, no damage was done to the car.

1. I gave a talk in sacrament today and it's over!!
2. Got to spend today with Brett, it seems like I haven't seen him in so long!
3. Josh's graduation this Friday.

"I Spy"

On one of our first dates, Brett and I hiked to the Y and played "I Spy". Today I went up there for a morning walk and it was well worth it. I thought of how much our life has changed since our dating days. I took a pic and highlighted some differences and old memories. I Spy:
1. Our grocery store.
2. The double church that I couldn't find the time we went up there.
3. The tree we hung out in on our first date.
4. Brett's second home, the Clyde Building.
5. My second home, work.
6. The BYU stadium where we spent many hours this last year.
7. Our church.
8. Our home!!!

1. Watching the Truman Show while Brett is at his class.
2. Lunch with my aunt today.
3. School.
