Changes

Our new adorable niece Candace!!!! She is so beautiful. Congrats guys!

This last week of our lives have been full of changes.

1. First, Brett has decided to switch from being a Masters student to a PhD student. Pretty big and crazy change. His research professor has urged him to do so and he will finish only one year later than we planned. So, we are planning to leave Provo in April of 2012. We're really excited. We didn't expect this but Brett is so good at Electrical Engineering and he really enjoys studying it so it just makes sense to us. I'm so proud of him. He works so hard.

2. Second, which isn't even nearly as big or excited but still, I don't have to do my call monitoring job anymore!!!!!!!!!! This bring such joy into my life I can barely stand it. The company I was working for was pretty shady. I just listened to the calls that were made at the company by their sales team and made sure that they didn't lie to the customers. (Thus, I felt okay about working for them). They let me borrow a laptop and I would just listen for about 20 hours a week from my apartment. Well, this last week something amazing happened. I signed into their system and to my wonderful surprise the system said that it "didn't exist". I called my boss and he said that the company had to close because the Better Business Bureau shut them down. That = me getting unemployment and me keeping the laptop that they let me borrow. Ya!!!! Plus it came on the perfect day. When Brett came home that day I was crying and telling him I couldn't listen anymore, and poof! The job is gone....crazy....So, now I just have two jobs. The two jobs I love. Life is so good.

3. Third, which is even a smaller deal, but I'm going back to school this summer for just a few credits to receive my Associates of Arts. I have wanted to do this for a while now and so I'm going to do it. It kind of stinks because neither BYU nor UVU have the program that I want, but at least I can grab my associates for all the work I have done so far. It's pretty weird because I'll only be 34 credits away from my Bachelors, but I won't be able to receive it in what I want. I really want to get my Interior Architecture degree someday but it's just not an option right now. It's not a big deal at all but at least I won't have to do classes I have already done again later.

4. Fourth, Life is so good. I don't usually talk about deep feelings on this blog, but I have been thinking a lot lately about what God wants for us and how he really is in control. It has been hard lately to know what God wants me to do. I applied for a job this last week that I really, really wanted. I got there at 2 in the afternoon and they had hired a girl that had walked in 30 minutes before me. Bummer. I really wanted that job and I didn't get it. It really made me sad and grumpy (Thanks Brett for being so patient with me :)). But, now a couple days later I know that I wasn't meant to get that job and other things will happen that are better for me. God is aware of us! And I'm really grateful for that.

1. Sunday Mornings.
2. No more calls!!!!!!!!

New York City

WARNING! Lots of pictures :)
Last Thursday my mom, Holly, Andrea, and I went on a girls weekend trip to New York City. It was such a blast! Thankfully we had great weather and made it back safely. Here are A LOT of pictures from our fabulous trip.
Times Square
Holly and mom in front of the Anthropologie store at Rockefeller Plaza. We absolutely love this store!
In front of the NBC Today Show building. We went to the NBC Store to buy some souvenirs for Brett and the boys. While we were there a girl came up and asked us if we wanted to see the rehearsal showing for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. We went up to his studio at 3:00 with about 20 other people and he judged his jokes on whether we did or didn't laugh. It was hilarious! We heard his opening jokes and then he did his famous "Thank You" Cards. It was so funny and so fun to see the set.

Jimmy Fallon writing his "Thank You" Cards...
P.S. The picture looks pretty bad cause we weren't allowed to take pictures....but I had to get just one....
Empire State Building!
We went and saw Mamma Mia on Friday night. We got the tickets that day for a great price and it was such a blast! Did we sing to all the songs you might ask? Yes, yes we did.
We went down into a shopping district called Soho on Saturday morning to find some purses at a store that was recommended to us by some friends. Holly and I went into this mans store to buy some cute oriental looking pajamas for Lucy and Mia. This guy and the guy next door had them and so we were bargaining back and forth with them. This guys wouldn't sell it for cheaper so we were walking out of his store and just as I was about to step out he yelled, "Stop her, stop her!!" Needless to say we bought them from him...he was just too funny. He also gave us two free postcards just for being so fun to bargain with.
If you ever go to NYC, please get an Almond Croissant. You won't regret it.
The World Trade Center visitors center and memorial. It was so amazing to go through and read about 9/11 and the people that it affected. I cried pretty much the whole time we were there.
A caption next to this steel beam said that it was dedicated to all the people who helped to recover 19,979 human remains and remove 1.6 million tons of material. So incredible!
We were in this paper shop for probably way too long. They had fun paper and trimming shops that we loved!
On Saturday we went to Wicked. For all those who have not seen this show and have heard people rave about it, just know that it really is as good as they say. It was incredible and to top it off we had fantastic seats. I'm listening to the music right now...
The 4 gals....
Sunday we went to church at the temple and then walked through Central Park and some other cute stores...
We went to lots of sweets shops, which I already miss, and they were amazing. You might be asking yourself, are those really cupcakes? Yes, yes they are. And it was good.
Hanging out at Central Park and watching the Ice Skaters across the way.
As you can see we had a great trip. Now it's back to work and regular life. It's fun to have something so fun to change it up a bit.

1. An incredible trip!
2. Bread is in the oven.
3. Staci, my sister in law, is having her baby soon!!

V-Day

Brett and I had a great Valentine Weekend this year. On Saturday we went to a restaurant on Center Street in Provo called Los Hermanos. It has been a small goal of ours to go to alot of the small restaurants here in Provo before we leave next year. It was great and we were surprised at how big it was inside. From the street it looks like a small one room restaurant but it spanned a couple of rooms and an upstairs.

Brett also took me to Tai Pan Trading and let me pick out a new decoration for our apartment. I was so excited! I love decorating and it was the perfect gift. We didn't spend alot of money, but Brett and I also made little gifts for each other. Brett made me a sweet crossword puzzle of words of things that we like to do and funny nicknames we have for each other. It was awesome. I made him a scavenger hunt that went all through our apartment with some candy and his favorite treats along the way. It was a great Valentines Day.

Update:

Right now in our lives we are kind of everywhere. Brett is still going to Graduate school and working at BYU in research for Electrical Engineering. He studies Dipole Moments of Proteins (?Yes, I know....). I work at Solase on University Parkway doing chemical peels and facials and doing a call monitoring job for a company based in Lindon.

Brett and I really like our ward. Brett just got called to be the new ward Clerk. He will start his calling next week and he's really excited. I just got called to be on the Relief Society Meeting Committee which I'm excited for as well.

Yesterday we were talking about how we love our life. We are so incredibly blessed! It's incredible how happy you can be with very little. There are always things that stress us out and worry us but everything is pretty much great!

1. Life.
2. Rain today!
3. I get to see my sister in 17 days!

My Mom & Me

When I was little I remember reading a book called My Mom & Me. I loved it. It was about a day that a girl and her mom spent together and all the fun things they did. This weekend I felt like I was in that book. This weekend my mom and me got to spend the weekend together. My dad, brothers, and Brett went on a snowmobiling trip and so I got to spend some fun time with my mom. We met in Salt Lake for the gift show and then went shopping. Later that day we went to dinner at Zupas and Rumbi. We couldn't decide where to go because we loved the salad from Rumbi and the soup from Zupas. So we just got both. Sometimes that happens. :) We got a good chuckle out of it. After we went to a movie and I spent the night at my parents home (Yes, I have a fear of sleeping at our apartment alone). And today we went to a bridal shower. It was such a fun weekend. My mom is so fun and it's so much fun to spend time with her.

1. My sweet mom.
2. Brett gets home soon!
3. My wedding album arrived today!

Last night was the season premier of the last season of Lost.
It was amazing. We love the show and are so excited for this last season.
We cuddled up, ate dinner, and enjoyed the show.
It was a fun, relaxing, and exciting, night. (Even though we are a little
more "lost" about the show than before ;))

1. The warm weather today.
2. A very yummy dinner tonight (hopefully!)

I Love That

I love Brett.
We just got back from grocery shopping and I love when he comes with me.
He is very meticulous about prices. He gets
a very serious look about his face as we walked down the aisles and
find the products we need.
I love that.
He is so cute.

This last week I completed our wedding album and he
was so excited about it with me.
I know that when I get excited about something small,
he probably isn't as excited or impressed but he pretends.
I love that he does that.
It makes me so happy.

I love that he helps me with laundry, dishes, and cleaning.
Since we have no dishwasher, the dishes have to get done somehow.
He is so great to just jump in and do them.
When I get up before he does,
He ends up making the bed, too.
I love that he does that.

Brett and I love to spend time together.
We love watching Lost, going to the library,
eating dinner together, and playing games together.
I love that.

I usually pick up Brett from school.
He calls me around 6:15 and I go get him.
I love seeing him walk out and get in the car.
He kisses me, smiles at me, and asks how my day was.
I love that, too.

I love that God loves me so much that he blessed me to meet Brett.
He is my world. I would be lost without him.
I truly love him.

1. New cereal.
2. It's almost the weekend!
3. My brothers birthdays are this weekend, dinner with the fam.
